About

A new profession is emerging on college campuses all across the United States and Canada: the campus sustainability professional. With job titles such as “sustainability coordinator” or “sustainability officer,” these employees are central to improving the environmental performance of the campus, from operations to the curriculum to student life.

Greening the Campus will present insights and observations from the perspective of a campus sustainability professional, and in doing so will hopefully promote discussion and knowledge-sharing amongst those on the front lines of the campus sustainability movement.

Greening the Campus is hosted by Richard Johnson, the Director of Sustainability for Rice University in Houston, Texas. Richard is also the Associate Director of the Center for the Study of Environment and Society (CSES), a Professor of the Practice of Environmental Studies in Sociology, and a Research Fellow of the Center on Race, Religion and Urban Life (CORRUL). Richard is married to an early-to-rise digital humanities guru, and has two young children.  He can be reached at sustainability dot rice dot edu.

Hi Richard. I wonder if you’re familiar with our Sustainability in Higher Education page (http://www.arnoldcreekproductions.com/SustainabilityHigherEducation.htm). Maybe your readers would be interested. Also, our DVDs have been big sellers to colleges and universities in 12 countries. Our newest release, Naturally Successful, is on green entrepreneurship. Business and MBA programs likely will be significant buyers. I’ll add you to our contact list in case we develop more videos to support AASHE members.
